Director's Welcome!

Welcome to the University of South Florida School of Social Work website.  The school has a strong tradition of 30+ years of providing social work education to the Tampa Bay area of Florida.  Our alums are practicing as social workers in school systems, health care organizations, and public and not-for-profit agencies across the state of Florida. Many are leaders in state and local organizations that promote social and economic justice for underserved populations.

The BSW and MSW programs are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, the national accrediting organization for schools of social work.  The BSW program provides a strong educational program in generalist social work practice.  The MSW program offers graduate students a program of study in advanced social work practice in clinical social work. The School of Social Work offers a Ph. D. program as a part-time offering to provide working professionals the opportunity to earn a research doctorate while continuing to work in social work practice. Plans are underway for a full-time Ph.D. program.

The faculty of the School have distinguished themselves as excellent instructors and also have individual achievements in research across a wide range of social work practice areas.  The faculty resources webpage provides additional details about the research interests and accomplishments of our faculty. The School enjoys very strong support from a dedicated group of community leaders in social work practice and from School of Social Work alums, ensuring that students are provided with learning experiences that are educationally enriched, innovative, and diverse.
